Are You Too Sensitive? It Could Mess With Your Mental Health

Some people just like to do nice things for others. I've been told I'm a people pleaser. Meaning I'll do something just to make someone happy, even if it hurts me. Vicious cycle. They say treat people the way you want to be treated, but then when you do it all the time it messes with you. Not fun. Maybe I'm to sensitive sometimes. I want to do something nice for everyone.

Being sensitive isn't a bad thing. But like with everything, if you over do it and don't get the same respect it messes with you sometimes.

Habits like this can mess with your mental health. Like I said, vicious cycle.

New research finds that nearly a third of people possess a “highly sensitive” personality trait linked to increased risk of depression, anxiety, and other mental health disorders.

They pulled together research for 12,000+ people and found that nearly a 1/3 of people have a “highly sensitive” personality trait linked to increased risk of depression, anxiety, and other mental health disorders. It's got to come from somewhere right. We all have triggers that make us feel our feels.

Sensitive people tend to process things more deeply and react strongly to their surroundings, and about 31% display high sensitivity. Yet most healthcare providers don’t see this.

So next time you talk to your therapist or friend you can lean on, make sure if you're not doing well to let them know. They can shine some light on it for you.

In the end, I'm cool with being over sensitive, I like being nice to people. But we all have our issues now don't we?
