Gardners Candies recalled their 1.25 ounce packages of Cappuccino Meltaway® Bars, sold in Texas, on December 27th due to the undeclared presence of a common allergen.
According to the United States Food & Drug Administration, the recalled products, distributed nationwide, "may contain undeclared tree nuts" which poses the risk of a "serious or life-threatening allergic reaction" to individuals allergic to cashews, not listed on the product labels.
Consumers should avoid Gardners Candies' 1.25 ounce packages of Cappuccino Meltaway® Bars with lot numbers 082725, 101625, and 112525. Customers can find the aforementioned information "stamped along the side" near the expiration date (8/27/2025).
So far, there have been no allergic reactions reported as a result of consuming the Cappuccino Meltway Bars.
Officials are urging consumers who have already purchased a recalled bag of Cappuccino Meltaway® Bars to call the company and ask for a replacement product that does not contain the undeclared allergen. In the meantime, production of the recalled product has officially been "suspended."
Individuals with questions are encouraged to contact the company "Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM (ET) at 1-800-242-2639."
