The Cardinals played the Cubs yesterday, and one pitch hit the dirt and bounced up into the catcher's chest protector . . . and STUCK there. The batter ran to first base and still the catcher couldn't find it.
(Finally the ump plucked it off his chest, but apparently did nothing about it, even though there had to be something very sticky on either the ball or the chest protector. Usually if a foreign substance is found on the ball, the pitcher gets ejected.)
Were they cheating? or did this ball miraculously grow velcro and stick by itself?
